Meet Nour Akhras

Dr. Nour Akhras is a pediatrician, mother, and longtime Morton Grove resident dedicated to child advocacy. For over two decades, she has worked to improve children’s health and well-being, both locally and globally. She has traveled on medical missions to care for children displaced by war and played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic, educating communities and partnering with the White House on a public health initiative. In addition to her medical work, she is an award-winning author who has highlighted the immigrant and refugee experience.

As a mother of a current D219 student and three future students, Nour understands the importance of strong schools. She is committed to fostering an inclusive, data-driven, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
